What is Cardiology?

Cardiology is an area of specialist medicine which is involved in the study, treatment and care of heart disorders.

Cardiologist: Dr Michael Mok – MBBS, FRACP

Michael is a General and Interventional cardiologist with special interests in coronary artery disease and valvular heart conditions. Having graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed his advanced training in Cardiology at the University Hospital Geelong, Michael undertook further specialist training both at the University Hospital Geelong and Austin Hospital.

He finalized his training with a fellowship in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute in Canada. In 2012, Michael returned to Australia and has since been practicing at University Hospital Geelong and is actively involved in medical education as a senior clinical lecturer with Deakin University. Michael is also involved with several local and international research projects, and keeps up to date by attending conferences. Family life is another important aspect and Michael enjoys spending time with his young family.
